Sorry for the length of time between posts...and what will probably result in a short post. I had forgotten I was needed to print off W2 forms...and there have been problems because the lady "in charge" of it is kinda an idiot. So, that's where all my time is being spent.
Next week, hopefully, I can spend some quality time churning out blog posts.
Till then!

Being sick and playing games.
So...yeah, the weekend blurred by in a haze of sickness and Final Fantasy XII. I'm really not sure where one ended and the other one began. The routine of wake up, use bathroom, sit in chair with Nintendo DS and play all day became the norm, punctuated, of course, with eating, more bathroom and the liberal use of tissues. It was a good weekend...as far as I can remember.
It has come to my attention, that 2008 will have a slew of movies that look pretty awesome. Cloverfield (which I've already spoken about), Ironman, Speed Racer, the next movie in the Chronicles of Narnia, the next Batman movie, a couple of CG cartoons (I've liked most that've come out so far), and a movie entitled Wanted.
Most of those are pretty self explanatory; the latter, however, was something I had never heard of before. The Yahoo news thingy has this to say about it: Angelina Jolie is back in action as a mystery woman named Fox who indoctrinates James McAvoy into a secret fellowship of assassins so highly trained they bend the very laws of physics, with Morgan Freeman as their gun-wielding guru.
I know what you're thinking...Morgan Freeman + Assassins = Awesome. Anyways, what the Yahoo blurb does not say about the movie is that it's a movie version of a somewhat famous comic miniseries where all the villains of the world united in 1986 and destroyed the superheroes. They now control the world from behind the scenes, Illuminati/Mafia style. The LA Times (I believe) called it a Watchman for villains. I think it looks pretty good, and, now that I know the comic exists, I'd love to look into it further.
Well...that's about all I got for today. There are end-of-the-year reports and other work related things I should be doing...
ciao!

The Weekend.
Ah...the weekend fast approaches. With Christmas finally behind me, I can honestly say I'm looking forward to a weekend of relative quiet. There are a few new games that demand my attention (DQM: Jokers, Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings and the Orange Box set), a slew of books that need read and many more that need written. I should be busy...but it's the fun kind of busy and I'm looking forward to it.
And those New Year's resolutions...they keep calling to me. Now that they're named, it can't keep them out of my head. I'm so excited to get back to writing.
...which reminds me...I need to get you guys some samples. I'll try to make that happen over the weekend.
Till next time,

New Year's Resolutions
For the new year, I have a few things I'd like to do.
1: Finish Gemini (a novel)
2: Finish revising Assassin's Game (a short story) and send it into the Writers of the Future contest.
3: Win the Writers of the Future contest. :D
I've gone through a long bout of not writing...and that bugs me. Sure, I'm busy; sure, lots of things have cropped up that were unexpected...but that's a lame excuse. I'm going to work hard on those first 2 and pray the third follows the second.
My plan for Gemini is to write all the chapters as short as possible...more like little scenes than chapters. That way, it'll be easy to scribble one down. With a full-blown chapter, I feel like it has to be a perfect union of style, prose and awesome...crafted painstakingly over several days of heartache and ibuprofen. If I do them shorter, that should alleviate some of that. Here's hoping, at least.
Assassin's Game...it's 1/2 rewritten anyways. I have section 1 to tweak and then sections 3 and 4 to completely go through. I think my problem was that sections 3 and 4 needed the most work, and I had so much else to do at the time anyways, my brain gave up even if my heart kept trying to push me back to it. Now that I've been away from it, my objectivity should be that much greater.
Of Gemini and Assassin's Game, I'll post some samples shortly. I probably can't post it all (publication rights and all), but I'll definitely give you guys something to look at. They are, I think, my two best stories. I would love some feedback.
I've done enough posting for today. I'm off!

Cloverfield
I saw an actual trailer for the new JJ Abrams film Cloverfield, a few days ago. It looked pretty spectacular. I'm a huge fan on Abrams, and can't wait to see his latest creation.
Information on the film has been pretty hard to come by as everyone involved has kept quiet about it, but, with only a few weeks until the release, I guess it was time to actually get some publicity out. Could be that this hush-hushness will create a fair amount of curiosity, but I worry just as much that people won't go watch it because they don't know what it is.
It seems as if the movie is going to be about a large monster destroying New York...which is somewhat disappointing. Of all the "big monster" movies I've seen, I haven't really liked any of them. Like...at all. But I rely on the fact that Abrams is at the helm, hope the writing doesn't sound contrived and pray for the best. I guess that's all I can do.
[Insert: Subliminal message for Abrams to hire me as a writer]
Or is it?
Mwa ha ha ha ha!
I'm gonna shoot to see it opening weekend, but with sick kids (btw, I have twin girls, ages 2, names Kalam Lee and Sylaris Gracin) and a somewhat sick wife (btw, I'm married, her name's Shannie), that might be an impossibility. We'll just have to see.
If anyone else happens to see it before I get something posted, put your thoughts down.
Thanks!

The All of Nothing, a mystifying story about mostly nothing.
So. I have a blog now.
I had a blog before, but it didn't work out so well...mostly because I forgot I had one.
Anyways, I feel like this could be "the one." I'm impassioned, I have a bit of free time... I don't really have anything to say but you throw enough wit at something and it becomes awesome.
Oh, I don't know...I might have something interesting to say. I'm a writer of fantasy and sci-fi (mostly fantasy) and I love games. Currently, I'm writing a system to go with the world my fantasy novels are set in. It's coming along nicely...and the progress should be fun to talk about.
Well, that's about all for now.
Till next time!
